BREAKING NEWS:
1BOG San Francisco has FIVE SPOTS LEFT for Real Goods Solar, Inc. to evaluate your place before September 15th!
Thanks for Signing Up!
Below are the next steps, and how this works:
If you are outside of San Francisco we will be following up in the coming weeks as we are planning to expand this program to other cities. If you have friends in the area get them to sign up too. Sign ups per city are going to be a number we use to select the next spot.
For the San Franciscans, to get started here are the steps:
- Send in your usage data!
A lot of you have already - thank you! For those of you who haven’t, we just can’t get your evaluation scheduled until we do. Call PG&E (800-743-5000) and ask for 12 months (each month) of electrical usage (in KWH). Or login to PG&E to download your data. If you don’t have an online account setup, click “Sign Up” - you’ll need your PG&E account number and the phone number on record. Click on “Billing > Usage History” on the blue menu on the left. Then email Dave your usage - dave@1bog.org or use the form at the bottom of this page.
- Talk to Dave.
Once we have your data you’ll get a call from Dave to run through some more questions about your home and schedule a time for an evaluation of your home. If you’ve already submitted your data and haven’t heard from Dave yet, feel free to call him at 408-833-9135, or email him at dave@1bog.org. - Get your home evaluated.
A Real Goods Solar consultant will come to your home to evaluate your solar requirements and assess our roof. They’ll look for things like shading, roof direction/pitch, roof material, electrical service, etc. This is also a great opportunity to get your specific questions answered. Please note, your Real Goods Solar consultant will call you the day before to confirm your appointment. Given our hectic, compressed schedule it may be necessary to reschedule your appointment to another mutually convenient time. We’re doing our best to limit this. - Get a quote.
Within 1-2 days you’ll get a formal quote from your consultant. In order to lock in the $7.50/watt price, you’ll have 1 week to review the quote and decide to move forward. Moving forward means signing a bunch of paperwork and providing a $1,000 deposit. This will get you started on your way to solar! Note, Real Goods Solar will need you to be prepared with a 3 more pieces of paperwork, see next. - Get your paperwork done.
If you move forward, here’s what you need to provide: 1) A complete PG&E bill (all pages, not older than 4 months). You can print one online or call PG&E if you don’t have one. 2) The first page of your home insurance. 3) Complete PG&E’s online SmartEnergy Analyzer survey. This is a series of questions about your home and your usage, and also tips on how to reduce your energy usage. You are required to prove you’ve completed this audit (do this by clicking ‘print report: summary’ when you’ve completed it). You don’t need an online account to do this. Just start by entering your zipcode and pressing GO. Here’s the survey: http://www.pge.com/myhome/saveenergymoney/analyzer/en/
